This area enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot and generally dry summers and cold winters with sporadic rainy episodes. The soil is characterized by terrains predominantly of granitic origin, appearing light in color and fairly homogeneous, rather loose and powerful, with a generally sandy texture, originating from the disintegration of lithoid material in situ. The sandy texture of the soil gives the wines richness of extracts, vivid color, and characteristics of longevity, as well as high alcohol content and intensity of aromas; while the proximity to the sea imparts excellent sapidity.
It is from the terroir that a wine’s uniqueness derives. For this reason, we believe that the study and respect of terroir are essential for the production and understanding of a grape variety and its wine. Safeguarding the terroir also means safeguarding the flavor of a wine. Our wines express a strong connection with the territory of Villasimius and Sarrabus. We are committed to researching the agronomic and oenological techniques best suited to the characteristics and needs of each individual grape variety, depending on the climate and soil. The grape varieties we grow, Cannonau and Vermentino, are the ultimate expressions of our terroir.
